My name is Rebeka, and I'm the psychologist behind ResPair. I come from Slovakia, however I have been an expat for 10+ years. While living in Spain, Scotland and the Netherlands, I have experienced how it is to move, create connections (and then move again). Living in a multicultural society brings a multitude of wonderful experiences, but it can as well contribute to the feelings of loneliness or identity questioning. And trust me, I have been there myself.
I support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, bipolar disorder, autism and ADHD, psychosis, personality problems, self-harm and suicidal ideation. Similarly, I work with couples who seek support in improving their relationships, creating a more healthy communication, establishing boundaries, and understanding their values. I also organise support groups for people navigating mental health challenges and neurodivergent experiences to connect and be heard in a community that shares similar lived experiences.
What helps me to stay connected with myself while experiencing challenges related to the life abroad has varied over the years. I enjoy spending time in nature, particularly hiking, which recently changed to long dog walks. I also enjoy doing sports, like yoga, running and swimming. Essentially, I try to stay connected to the communities I built in Spain and in Scotland, as well as my family in Slovakia. As you may know for yourself, it is not an easy feat, and I also sometimes struggle with finding the right balance.
